Doug Hartkorn

Before joining Cowie Capital Partners Inc in 2019, as the company’s Chief Financial Officer, Doug spent 30 years as a partner at Shimmerman Penn LLP, a boutique CPA firm located in Toronto. Over his years in public practice, Doug focused on effective business and tax strategies for privately held corporations in the real estate sector. Doug was also part of the Shimmerman Penn team that played a fundamental role in the drafting the changes to the ownership rules under the Ontario Architect Act in 2010 which resulted in broader ownership structures and greater flexibility in succession plans.

From the inception of the company in 1996, Doug has contributed to its success in providing business and tax strategies with respect to new builds, leasing, tenant inducements and various joint venture arrangements. After a short retirement in early 2019, Doug joined the company as its CFO to take on an expanded role in the management of the company’s financial affairs, oversight of its investments and to liaison with its business partners and advisors.
